Latest canvas done for a Speedway fan.
Creating production posters for theatrical performances is something which I really enjoy but rarely display online. However I have made an exception with this one because it really is one of my favorites. I've never actually seen Sweeney Todd the movie, nor have I read too much about it. However, I am familiar with the story line and I was really keen to produce something that would make people stop and take notice. Hopefully this will help sell plenty of tickets for the performance.
The Hair by Kirby Blythe website project is well under way and should hopefully be completed by the end of the month. The design is based upon all previous publications that I have done for Kirby, using an elegant and contemporary style. The site will predominantly use HTML but there will also be some flash and PHP features to help the site look better visually and also to make it more interactive.
Kirby Blythe is a multi-talented, award winning hair stylist. In the past few days I have produced an A1 scale promotional mounted poster which is to be displayed at all the wedding fairs she attends in the foreseeable future. This is by no stretch of the imagination, my best work. A tiny time constrain of just 24 hours hasn't allowed my the creative freedom I would have normally liked, but that is life. I'm just glad I've produced something that meets her needs. In the next few weeks I will begin working on her website.
A couple of weeks ago I mentions a wedding invitation I did that unfortunately was not chosen as the final design. I liked that design, very much so... and when Leggotts Jewellers (Scunthorpe) approached me to create some flyers to advertise their store discounts for the Christmas holidays it gave me ideal opportunity to find this design a home. I actually prefer it now that it has been developed to be suitable for the Jewellers. They seem happy and so am I. Its actually one of my favourite designs I've done this year!
In the last few days, a web banner I designed was chosen to be the new header for a football forum website based on my home town team, Scunthorpe United. This was only a bit of fun at first but it has resulted in me designing a new t-shirt to add to my online shop. It featured the Cantilever stand at the clubs first home, 'The Old Showground'.
These past couple of weeks I've been working on some Wedding invites. The job is now moving into it's final stages and here is one of the design which didn't get picked. It is however, my favourite. In the past, I'd say that illustration hasn't been one of my strong points, but this design was completely drawn from scratch so I'd like to think that I'm improving.
Tonight I have finally put the finishing touches to a canvas dedicated to Scunthorpe United legend Billy Sharp. The stencils for this were cut way back last year and I used them for a t-shirt design for my RetroIron Shop but for what ever reason I never got round to producing the finished canvas. On Saturday evening, Winterton Iron are holding their annual party and I thought this was an ideal opportunity to finally get it done and give the finished item off as part of the auction. I'm happy with it, hopefully it will bring in a bit of money!!
It's pretty depressing watching the year draw to a close as the weather gets colder and the nights become shorter. The only thing I actually do like about it is the amazing photo opportunities that Autumn brings. I spent last Sunday morning up at Normanby hall, North Lincolnshire and I managed to get some great shots of all the trees and leaves. I decided to put these three together because although the colours are so different, I just felt they complimented each other nicely.
If your wondering where I've been for the past 2 months, well here is your answer. I've locked myself away to create a new part of my website (amongst other things of course). This is a 'sub-site' especially created to be the new home of all my photography work. I realized that a great amount of the people who visit my page, go there just to view my photography work. These days, I'm trying extra hard to get more work done with the camera and I figured that in its current state, there simply wasn't enough room on my current website. This new section should hopefully go live in the next couple of days. Let me know what you think!
